CONTREPLAQUÉ is a series of succinct pieces recorded during the year 2020. After numerous albums and collaborations in the field of improvised and experimental music, Philippe Lauzier takes slightly on a different path here by opening and layering a wider range of inspirations. In the shifting of a «normal» life activity, He creates this new collection of short compositions, including one by György Ligeti and another in collaboration with percussionist Carlo Costa. One piece also features an improvised vocal appearance by artist Laïla Mestari. Oscillating between contrasting vibes, some fugitive, some down to earth, almost every piece foregrounds his bass clarinet. Percussive and textural sounds, or delicate melodies and backgrounds, unite with a verdant use of synthesizers and noises from objects and matters.

CONTREPLAQUÉ est une série de pièces succinctes enregistrées au cours de l'année 2020. Après plusieurs albums et collaborations dans le domaine de la musique improvisée et expérimentale, Philippe Lauzier emprunte ici un chemin légèrement différent en ouvrant et en superposant un plus large éventail d'inspirations. Dans le décalage d'une activité de vie «normale», il crée cette nouvelle collection de morceaux, dont un de György Ligeti et un autre en collaboration avec le percussionniste Carlo Costa. Une pièce présente également une apparition vocale improvisée de l'artiste Laïla Mestari. Oscillant entre des atmosphères contrastées, certaines fugitives, d'autres terre-à-terre, presque chaque pièce met en avant-plan sa clarinette basse. Des sons percussifs et texturaux, ou des mélodies et des arrière-plans délicats, s'unissent à une verdoyante utilisation de synthétiseurs et de bruits de matières concrètes.
